AI Crystals. Also known as Apostolia Crystals, are not your regular crystals where can be inserted or equipped into equipment slots. AI cryatals are equipped into your character upon completion of release stats quest found in the beginning of episode 3, "The Bandage Girl and the Mysterious Warriors"
AI crystals are found in Menu/Character/Status as shown on diagram below.
5 AI crystals can be equipped but they can not be of the same type. Furthermore you will need to use extract xtals to remove them unless you choose to destroy them.
AI crystals will be displayed in the ore column of item bag. A triangle of primary colours of either Red, Blue or Green. All crystals can be put together, giving various bonuses. Placing a red with a blue crystal would give you a purple line. A green and blue makes a light-blue. A green and red would give you a yellow line.
